Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore volume, smooth lines and soften creases or enhance facial contours. They are used to plump the skin on the face giving a youthful and fuller appearance. These soft tissue fillers are administered via a cosmetic injection and help to fill out deeper lines and wrinkles in the face. At Fresh Face Aesthetics and Beauty, we offer dermal fillers for the entire face depending on your needs. We use a Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based injection for dermal fillers, this is a naturally occurring substance in the body that we produce less of as we age. Dermal fillers are safe, effective and non-permanent. Whilst results vary from person to person you can usually expect them to last anywhere between 6 – 12 months before re-treatment is required. Shannon will take you through a private consultation to discuss your needs and suggest the best solution using dermal fillers. Her aim is to provide you with a fresh and youthful appearance using only the necessary amount of filler to achieve a natural, refreshed look. Arrive 20 mins before your treatment to allow numbing cream to take effect.

Lip Augmentation

If you weren’t blessed with full lips, or you suffer from asymmetry, lip fillers can be the perfect way to restore balance, increase volume and accentuate your cupid’s bow. Lip filler provides instant results but please bear in mind that some swelling and bruising may be present and the lips may feel lumpy for around 2 weeks. People often worry about the size of the lips post treatment and the amount of filler that will be injected, however, we discuss all of this in a full consultation to make sure we are both happy with the desired outcome. An aesthetic cream will be used prior to injection to make the treatment as painless as possible. Lip fillers usually last anything from 6-9 months depending on your lifestyle and how quickly you metabolise the filler. All pre and post care will be given prior to treatment.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is the perfect alternative for a nose job for so many reasons. It is affordable, it is not invasive, it takes up to an hour to complete the consultation and the treatment and there is zero downtime.

Liquid rhinoplasty is carried out using a Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based injection for dermal fillers, this is a naturally occurring substance in the body that we produce less of as we age. Dermal fillers are safe, effective and non-permanent. Whilst results vary from person to person you can usually expect them to last anywhere between 6 – 12 months before re-treatment is required. Shannon will take you through a private consultation to discuss your needs and suggest the best solution using dermal fillers. A non-surgical rhinoplasty smooths out the appearance of bumps in the nose to give a straighter appearance also Tinkerbell nose life which lifts the tip of the nose to give a smaller appearance. We also offer a facial contouring package, which includes: cheekbones, jawline & chin.

Tear Trough Filler
Also known as the ultimate in eye rejuvenation. This is perfect for clients who suffer from dark circles under the eye area or those who have loss of volume. As we age, we lose collagen and fat in the face making your tear troughs hollow out. The hyaluronic acid filler plumps the skin and adds more volume, helping to reverse the clock and make you look and feel more youthful.  Giving instant results which only improve over the course of 2 weeks as the filler settles and lasting anything from 6-12 months. You may experience some slight bruising but the procedure is practically painless.

Marionette lines/Nasolabial Folds
Marionette lines (run down from the corner of the mouth) and Nasolabial folds (crease running from the side of the nose down towards the corner of the mouth) can have an ageing effect on the face as they can give the appearance of a sad face or big creases next to the cheeks. Using dermal filler to treat these lines has a very uplifting effect on the face and helps to soften the ageing process, giving a refreshed appearance.

Cheek Contour
Cheek fillers improve the area of your cheek bones, especially if you have sallow, hollow cheeks or you are losing skin elasticity via ageing. This procedure is not only practically painless, but lasts around 6-12 months and helps to balance out facial symmetry. For younger clients, this can help you achieve that high cheekbone look.

Chin Enhancement
This procedure changes or enhances the shape of the chin, whether its to smooth an unwanted dimple, bump or to change the shape completely. This will help your chin to be more in proportion with the rest of your facial features and provide facial symmetry. Instant results and lasts around 12 months.

Jawline Contouring
Jawline fillers help to create definition, symmetry and balance. As we age we can lose volume in the lower part of the face. This treatment can also sharpen a jawline if you have a naturally rounder face. This sharpens the angle of the jaw, creating a slimmer looking face. Jawline Contouring usually lasts around 9-12 months.

8-Point Face Lift

An 8 point facelift, also known as a non-surgical face lift or liquid facelift, involves injecting dermal filler into specific points on the face to create lift and replace lost volume to the face using an advanced and precise technique for total rejuvenation. It combats the soft tissue loss associated with the ageing process and offers a more complete solution compared to individual dermal filler treatments. The 8 point facelift can typically be used for most patients and gives a natural result - it can be for anyone; male and female. An 8 point facelift typically lasts 6 -12 months. How long results last for is dependent on the individual. Factors such as metabolic speed and increased exercise may impact the longevity of dermal filler. After having dermal fillers for the first time, you will have a better understanding of how long they will last for you. It is also possible that if you keep up with treatment regularly, you will see an accumulative effect. If you decide not to engage in regular treatments, the dermal filler will be reabsorbed by the body. Approaches to the 8 point liquid facelift treatment will differ for each individual. We understand that templates cannot simply be applied to everyone and so we will discuss treatment options during your initial consultation and how many mLs of dermal filler are required as cosmetic results vary between individuals. Typically, more mature patients will require more mLs of dermal filler. At your initial consultation, your practitioner will carry out a full assessment and explain how many mLs are required to achieve your desired result. As dermal fillers are volumising, you will see results immediately. However, there may be bruising and swelling due to the nature of the treatment. This may take several days to settle, and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers typically take up to 4 weeks to integrate into the skin tissue. An 8 point facelift with dermal fillers is described as mildly uncomfortable. Numbing cream can be applied to reduce any discomfort. The treatment itself lasts no longer than 30 minutes. You will be with your practitioner for one hour and this includes a further consultation.

Elective Dissolving

Elective dissolving using a hyaluronidase isn't just for emergencies - it can be used to remove unwanted filler (Hyaluronic Acid) such as dissolving lip fillers. You'll need to receive injections of hyaluronidase (Hyalase) near the filler, e.g. in the body of the lip or surrounding area. Hyaluronidase is a concentrated synthetic form of an enzyme that naturally occurs in your body. When injected, it begins to break down the filler, speeding up the dissolving process that would take place over time. Hyaluronidase has immediate effect and a half-life of two minutes with duration of action of 24 to 48 hours. Once we start the process of injecting the hyaluronidase, the dermal filler in that area starts to break down and soften immediately.

What should / shouldn’t I do after my treatment? This will be discussed with you at your consultation, in case you forget, the aftercare is as follows:

  • Immediately after treatment you will be advised not to rub or touch the treated areas for 24 hours.

  • There may be bruising, swelling and tenderness after your treatment. This is normal and can take several days to settle. Arnica cream or gel can be applied to any bruised areas.

  • You must not apply makeup for 24 hours or use AHA, Retinols/Vitamin C therapy.

  • Do not perform strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

  • Avoid intense heat such as hot baths/showers for 24 hours.

  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms and sunbeds for 2 weeks.

  • Avoid facials, facial waxing, Glycolic or AHA peels, IPL treatments and microdermabrasion for 2 weeks.

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.

  • Avoid pressure on the treated areas for the first few nights (i.e. sleep on back of possible).

Immediately after your dermal filler treatment you may notice a few of the following things:
• Swelling
• Bruising
• Red needle puncture marks
• Asymmetry
• Tenderness
• Itching in the area

These issues above are common with dermal filler aftercare, and should resolve over the next few days to weeks. Your final result will be seen at about 4 weeks after treatment, and you can be reviewed to see if further treatments are required to achieve the planned results. Immediately after the injections you face will be cleaned. You should not touch your face for 6 hours. After this you may clean your skin with water and a gentle cleanser. If you would like to apply makeup after 6 hours, there are brands like Oxygenetix, which have been created for this purpose, although it is ideal to avoiding makeup on the day of the procedure.

Pain relief
Pain is usually mild and sometimes moderate after filler injections. There are areas which can be quite painful like the chin and the lips. Pain relief such as paracetamol may be taken.

Swelling relief
Apply a cool compress for 10 minutes every hour on the day of treatment (do not apply ice directly on your skin). A cool compress applied regularly for the first 24 hours after injections may help to reduce the amount of swelling. Some patients use arnica before and after treatment to reduce the swelling. Please note the top lips swells more than the bottom and will appear bigger. This will correct once the swelling has gone down.

Bruising relief
Patients on aspirin, fish oil or other drugs associated with increased bruising may find their risk increased. For the treatment of bruising, there are over the counter treatments available, including Arnica you can take before to prevent bruising.

Massage
Massage of the filler areas may or may not be advised. Gentle massage may be used once the pain and tenderness has resolved and if advised by your practitioner.

Cold sores and Dermal filler
There may be a small chance that a treatment may induce an outbreak of facial cold sores in patients with a previous history. Some patients take preventative Lysine or antivirals to help reduce the risk of cold sores. If you get cold sores after a treatment, you should see your doctor.

Retreatment
Retreatment should occur at any time between 1-6 months after a first treatment. Once peak filler has been achieved, and the patient is on maintenance injections, they might have filler once per year.
